It began… from the very beginning…

Often times you’ll hear people talk about how they’ve been drawing “ever since they could hold a pencil” - I’m one of those people.

I remember my toddler self adding some decorative colour smudged onto the kitchen wall about half a meter up and being so utterly proud of my masterpiece. I also remember my mother doing her best not to lose her mind. The next day she came home from work with as many art supplies as we could afford, and that’s where it really began.

Throughout my life I have been inspired by the natural world around me, and especially the horses that occupied the fields we lived near. I’ll admit, I am a horse girl. Up until the age of 11, they I exclusively drew and talked horses.

It evolved to botanicals, mushrooms, landscapes and bones. I was lucky enough to have wonderful art teachers in high school that pressured me to practice and study to hone my skills - to never accept my bare minimum effort, that I can always learn more.

I attended Deakin University and RMIT in the span of three years, switching from Deakin to pursue a more freeing course in Fine Arts: Painting. I cultivated my skills in a more professional manner, and left feeling more confident in my skills than I ever had been, perhaps other than that time I decided to colour in my mothers stark white kitchen walls.

Now as I work as a qualified Horticulturalist, I find inspiration in my surroundings every day. My obsession still is horses, but now they are surrounded by wattle - my new favourite subject matter.

yes - that’s me using a mouse to draw in 2006!

I love to explore many mediums and try my hand at different styles and techniques.

I’ve been indulging in digital art since 2016, using the freedom of the medium to create anything my mind can conjure. I mainly use the digital medium to illustrate character art both for myself and for others who want their characters from D&D and other ttrpg’s brought to life.

My paintings in acrylic, watercolour and oils feature mainly florals, plants, landscapes, and animal skeletons, exploring the vast theme of the life cycle and environmental change.

Similarly, my woodburnings also explore naturalist themes, one of my favourite and long lasting mediums to work in. I love the rustic aesthetic that these works take on.

I love the western/north american aesthetic of the untamed west as much as I love the rugged high country of victoria and the wild brumbies of kosciuszko.
